About HospitalCheck

The NHS publishes an enormous amount of data about its hospitals — waiting times, A&E performance, inspection ratings, infection rates, even car-parking charges. But it is scattered across many separate statistical releases, spreadsheets and regulator websites. The NHS itself once ran a comparison site (MyNHS); it was retired. The famous Good Hospital Guide stopped publishing.

HospitalCheck brings the official numbers together into one plain-English profile per hospital, so you can see how long waits are, how the A&E is performing, and what the regulator found — and compare your options under the NHS's right to choose where you are treated.

Every figure is taken unmodified from official NHS England and Care Quality Commission publications, shows the period it describes, and is reused under the Open Government Licence v3.0. We never estimate or generate numbers. Read the methodology.
